Progressive Adds Cooled UniLifter Assemblies

Pre-engineered Mold Componentry Advances Undercut Release

Progressive Components has expanded its offering of UniLifters® undercut release components with a pre-engineered assembly that provides added mold cooling.

Traditional lifter assemblies are often comprised of a round lifter rod with a lifter head insert attached that contains undercut details. Reaching those details with waterlines can be difficult for mold designers due to crowded spaces and sliding componentry.

Progressive’s new Cooled UniLifter Assembly features a round Core Blade that is precision machined to accept a High Flow Cascade Tube at its base, seated into position with a Buna O-Ring. The cascade tube extends past the end of the core blade and into the mold’s lifter head insert. The end of the cascade tube is provided finished cut to the required length, with a 30-degree angle to provide flow. Also provided are two in and out threaded NPT ports, with four different port orientations available.

Although assemblies are made to order at finished lengths, drawings are not required by Progressive. Instead, the company’s configurable part number format is utilized.

Referred to as “Mold-Ready,” a configurable part number eliminates the need for a print to be provided. The designer begins with Core Blade nomenclature, then adds the finished length, then adds the tube protrusion length, and lastly the port orientation. Then, in the mold’s Bill of Material, the designer can enter the configurable part number (e.g. CBC75D-L9.650-F1.50-2), simplifying and standardizing the order process.

Additional standardization is available for this assembly by selecting Progressive’s Spherical Bushings for Core Blade support, as well as with Lifter Head Keys.

Cooled UniLifter Assemblies include the (1) Core Blade machined to accept all cooling items, (1) High Flow Tube cut-to-length with a 30° angle, and (1) Buna O-Ring. Additional features include:

  • Pre-engineered cooling circuit and componentry is selected and included.
  • Water in and out ports can be chosen in one of four orientations.
  • For ¾” and 1 ¼” diameter Core Blades.
