Progressive Components Expands Alignment Lock Product Line
New Cavity Interlocks Offer Precise Alignment of Small Molds
Mold designers know that there's no one-size-fits-all when it comes to components for mold alignment, and that's why Progressive has introduced more styles and sizes throughout the years.
Some applications require precise alignment, and rather than installing locks in the mold base, Progressive's new Cavity Interlocks mount directly into the mold's inserts. Sized for nominal plate and insert thicknesses, the highest amount of locking surface is provided for the minimum amount of space to be machined.
Sizes of Flat Cavity Interlocks begin at widths of only .625", and overall lengths can be modified to suit the heights of the cavity and core inserts.
Round Cavity Interlocks are available in three diameters (1/4", 3/8", and 1/2"). This style can be mounted from the parting line to allow for details such as waterlines to be located underneath or bolted from the back of the insert.
CAD geometry for Progressive's line of alignment locks is available from the company's CADalog™, a free parts library with downloads offered in multiple formats, including SolidWorks, NX, VISI, STEP, Parasolid, ACIS, and IGES. Individual CAD files can also be found at https://shop.procomps.com.
