PROGRESSIVE COMPONENTS NOW A 100% EMPLOYEE-OWNED COMPANY
PROGRESSIVE COMPONENTS NOW A 100% EMPLOYEE-OWNED COMPANY
This past March, Progressive Components announced that it has transitioned to 100% employee ownership through the establishment of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This transaction ensures that the company remains American-owned and independently operated while creating a meaningful ownership opportunity for employees.
Under the ESOP structure, employees received company shares through a retirement trust at no upfront cost. Over time, employees accumulate ownership in the company as a benefit of their employment.
Both Donald Starkey (Chairman) and Glenn Starkey (President) remain in their roles at this time, as leadership and daily operations will remain unchanged. Customers and suppliers should expect the same relationships, service levels, and long-term commitment that have defined the company for decades.
“Employee ownership aligns everyone around long-term growth and performance,” said Peter Friddle, Progressive’s COO. “This structure, along with deliberate, well-executed succession planning, will allow Progressive to operate with continued strength well into the future.”
The announcement was made at the podium of the Plastics News Executive Forum in Clearwater Beach, Florida, on March 25, where Progressive received the conference organizer’s Best Places to Work recognition.

The company expressed gratitude to its customers, suppliers, and team members for their support throughout the years, and now looks forward to the new chapters ahead.

TOOLING FOR TOMORROW
The Progressive team proudly sponsored and exhibited at the 2026 AMBA Conference, held May 12–14, in Grand Rapids, MI.
We also sponsored and presented the AMBA awards for Mold Builder and Tooling Trailblazer of the Year, which includes a $5,000 grant to support a technical program of the winner’s choice.

In addition to the AMBA awards, Pro also sponsors the SPE’s Mold Designer of the Year award, which comes with a $1,000 check. This year, Rob Doorakkers, CTO of IGS GeboJagema, was named the 2026 Mold Designer of the Year.
Recently, IGS invited future mold makers, designers, and innovators from Avans Academy of Technology and Innovation to its Eindhoven facility to gain a firsthand look at the technology, craftsmanship, and teamwork that drive success in the design and production of high-quality injection molds.
