To expand its offering of Ejector Sleeves, Progressive has added treatments for greaseless applications and extended its standard size range for very large injection molds.

Black Nitride Ejector Sleeves have a precision honed lubricious surface that does not require grease in cleanroom applications, and a high hardness (66-70 HRC) that is suited for harsh conditions such as with die casting.

“When the BN Series Sleeves are combined with Progressive’s Through-Hard Ejector Pins, the dimensional specifications provide the industry’s closest combined precision fit and tolerance between pin and sleeve,” states Ken Rumore, R&D Manager at Progressive. “Unlike PVD processes such as diamond-like coatings (DLC), black nitride penetrates the steel’s substrate and won’t chip, flake, or peel.”

In addition, Progressive has added over 300 new sizes to its range of H-13 Ejector Sleeves. Where U.S. standards end at 14” lengths, Progressive now offers off-the shelf sizes from 15” to 18”, along with new Thin Wall Sleeves and Sleeve Extensions added.

“Whether it’s small, tight-tolerance medical tooling, or huge molds for automotive and appliances applications, mold builders now have the convenience of new standards, and molders benefit from a heat treatment that penetrates the substrate,” said Glenn Starkey, Progressive’s president.
